US genomics leader bows out from institute : Nature News

US genomics leader bows out from institute : Nature News:

"Francis Collins, the geneticist who led the US National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) in Bethesda, Maryland, through the completion of the Human Genome Project and the dawn of the personal genomics era, has announced that he will leave his post on 1 August."

So what will he do?

"[He] was leaving the NHGRI to explore posts “that would be very difficult to consider or discuss or pursue while continuing in my role as a federal employee”.

"Collins also says that he would like to write a book about personal genomics for the public."

Umm, sounds like a great way to promote that "personal genomics" idea.

Some people also said he will resume his ownership for a genomic company he put his shares on hold during his position at NHGRI. That's quite obvious, isn't it? Who would like to be a poor scientists if you have other choices?
